European governments are pushing the EU to send a representative to talk with Russia about a deal in Ukraine. They are worried that the US might make a deal with Russia without them, according to Politico's European edition.

The report says that France and Italy, along with others, have already gotten backing from the European Commission and some other countries.

The report also mentions that the main concern is having someone who can communicate clearly with both the US and Russia. Officials think it's just as important to send a message to Washington as it is to Moscow.

The newspaper noted that Finnish President Alexander Stubb has been seen as a possible choice for this role. But some sources say there's no official position for a special envoy yet, and talking about possible candidates is too early.
