The European Commission has initiated three separate inquiries into Amazon Web Services (AWS), provided by Amazon.com Inc., and Azure, offered by Microsoft Corp., under the Digital Markets Act (DMA).

Tony Webster
The DMA is designed to curb the dominance of major technology companies and promote fair competition for smaller businesses.

One of these inquiries will examine if the DMA is adequately addressing anticompetitive behaviors within the cloud computing industry.

Teresa Ribera, who leads the EU antitrust agency, stated, "We will look into modifying the existing DMA guidelines to make sure Europe can adapt to the fast-evolving practices in the cloud sector."

The investigations are anticipated to conclude within a period of twelve months.
