The chip is intended for training and executing AI models, and in critical performance metrics such as floating-point performance and memory bandwidth, it is positioned between two processors from the American firm Nvidia Corp.—the newest Blackwell and their earlier Hopper models—and exceeds both in memory capacity, as per Moore Threads.

The firm, often called the Chinese Nvidia, was established in 2020 by a top official from the American semiconductor company.

In early December, Moore Threads completed an 8 billion yuan ($1.13 billion) IPO in Shanghai, marking the second-largest in mainland China for this year. Its stock increased by 1.3% on Monday.
