Li Jiang, the board secretary of CATL, informed the newspaper that fast-swapping batteries hold significant promise in Europe for lowering costs and prolonging the lifespan of these components.

These technologies enable a depleted battery to be swapped for a fully charged one within minutes, while also lowering the cost of an electric vehicle, as car owners are not required to pay for the battery, which is the priciest part.

China's NIO has pioneered fast-swapping battery technology, but its adoption outside China has been hindered by the expensive setup of service stations. Nonetheless, it is becoming more favored as electric vehicle sales rise and concerns about battery supply chains grow, the newspaper adds.
