The COP30 Climate Leaders Summit, which is an integral part of the larger COP30 event, took place in Brazil from November 6 to 7, while the formal climate summit is set to begin on November 10.
During the COP30 Climate Leaders Summit, UN Secretary-General António Guterres urged a shift in direction to effectively address climate change.
He mentioned previously that global temperatures are expected to exceed the previously set 1.5°C target in the coming years, but he also emphasized that it is still possible to take action that could make this increase temporary.
This summit holds particular significance as the past few years have recorded some of the highest temperatures ever seen.
