The British government has declared its plan to acknowledge the State of Palestine in September if the Israeli authorities do not act to conclude the conflict and address the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, according to the British government website.

The government declaration starts with expressing worry regarding the situation of the Israeli captives and the residents of Gaza.

“We are committed to safeguarding the viability of the two-state solution and will consequently acknowledge the State of Palestine in September prior to the UN General Assembly if the Israeli government fails to make substantial moves to address the dire situation in Gaza...”, the statement reads.

London urges an immediate ceasefire in Gaza to facilitate the delivery of more UN humanitarian aid to the region, as well as the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas in the area.

The British government has shown its willingness to collaborate with global partners to establish a peace initiative for the Gaza Strip, incorporating transitional governance, security measures, and facilitating humanitarian aid delivery.

Simultaneously, London recognized that acknowledging Palestine alone will not alter the conditions in the enclave; thus, state will provide humanitarian assistance to Gaza via air and evacuate injured children from the enclave for medical care in British hospitals.
