Blue Origin, the U.S. aerospace firm owned by billionaire Jeff Bezos, revealed intentions to create an orbital satellite internet network named TeraWave, as stated in the company press release.

“Blue Origin has revealed the launch of TeraWave, a satellite communications network intended to... provide 6 terabits per second of data globally. This network will support tens of thousands of companies, data facilities, and government entities needing dependable communications for essential operations," the announcement reads.

The firm intends to launch 5,408 TeraWave internet satellites into low and medium Earth orbit. Releases are set to commence in the last quarter of 2027.

The TeraWave network will successfully rival SpaceX's Starlink system, which boasts more than 10,000 satellites in orbit offering broadband internet connectivity to individuals, companies, and government entities globally.
