German data centers might recycle their waste heat to heat houses. According to Bloomberg, such is the suggestion made by the German government in an effort to lessen the industry's carbon impact and increase data center efficiency in the midst of the energy crisis.

Ralph Hintemann, a senior researcher at the Borderstep research center, responded on the Cabinet plan by saying, "The problem here is to find someone who can use it sparingly."

The information provided by the organization indicates that a sizeable investment in heat pumps is necessary for the innovative energy project because the heat produced by data centers is "far from as hot as most district heating networks demand."

The 1,300 apartments in Frankfurt's Westville experimental residential development, which will be heated by waste energy from a nearby data center, are expected to be finished by the middle of 2025. The project's viability, according to experts, is due to the data center's proximity to the quarter, which is only 500 meters.
