The manufacturer promises improved security compared to other devices on Android.

The new just-out is protected by original BlackBerry encryption, and a special application DTEK is designed for tracking questionable applications.

Priv is released in an unusual slider format, with a qwerty-keyboard cloaked by touch screen.

BlackBerry has decided to launch a smartphone on Android after unsuccessful attempts to introduce its own operating system.

The company holds less than 1% of the smartphone market, and is planning to sell up to 5 million Privs for the first year. Over the past quarter, Blackberry sold just 800,000 units.
