Sara Netanyahu, the wife of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, must pay the equivalent of almost €14,000 to the Israeli treasury for ordering expensive meals. The corresponding agreement between Sara Netanyahu and the country's Prosecutor General’s Office was reached on Wednesday, June 12. As follows from the indictment, Netanyahu deliberately took advantage of ignorance of the staff of the Prime Minister’s office.

The charge says that from 2010 to 2013, Sara Netanyahu ordered expensive dishes for a total of €43,000 dozens of times, although the politician’s personal chef, whose services were paid from the state budget, worked in the house. Money to pay for food was received from the office of the Prime Minister.

The wife of the Israeli prime minister has repeatedly declared her innocence. Her lawyers pointed out that food was ordered by third parties "against the wishes of Sara Netanyahu", and services of the cook were used only on official occasions, but not for the personal needs of the Netanyahu family. In 2015, supervisory services reported high spending in the family of the Prime Minister.
