In April, BYD's sales in the EU reached 7,231 electric vehicles, marking a 2.7-fold increase compared to the previous year. Tesla sales dropped 49% to 7,165 vehicles.
“The gap in total sales numbers for the two brands might be minor, yet the consequences are considerable,” stated Jato Dynamics analyst Felipe Muñoz. “This marks a crucial transition for the European auto market.”
In April, total sales of electric vehicles in Europe rose by 28%. The segment leader, German Volkswagen, saw a 61% rise in sales, with its Skoda brand more than tripling its electric car sales.
