Apple To Open App Development Center in Italy

Apple announced creation of the first European development center for iOS applications in Italy in order to provide students the opportunity to gain practical skills in developing applications for mobile operating system iOS.

IOS applications development center will be located at a partner institute in Naples and will provide support for teachers, and set up a special curriculum allowing developers to prepare for future participation in Apple developers community.

Furthermore, in addition to this program, Apple plans to work together with partners in Italy as part of training developers, and create additional opportunities for students. Apple expects to expand the program to other countries in the world.

"Europe is the birthplace of many of the world's most successful developers, and we are very pleased to help a new generation of entrepreneurs in Italy in obtaining skills necessary for successful operation, - said Tim Cook, head of the Apple Corporation. - The phenomenal success of the App Store is one of the main driving forces. At the heart of it are more than 1.4 million jobs created by Apple in Europe, which offers unlimited opportunities for people from all over the continent of all ages to be engaged in a wide range of activities."

Now, the company’s ecosystem consists of more than 1.4 million jobs (data from ‘App Economy Jobs in Europe’ research by Dr. Michael Mandel, the Progressive Policy Institute), including 1.2 million among application developers, software engineers and entrepreneurs who create applications for iOS, as well as positions in areas other than IT, but related to app development, directly or indirectly.

Development of the App Store has allowed European developers earn more than 10.2 billion euros in sales of their applications throughout the world.

More than 75 000 jobs are related to the App Store in Italy, and the developer community is very dynamic there. IK Multimedia company released its first application in 2009, and now it has over 25 million downloads. Musement app, released in 2013, is now available in seven languages to 300 cities in 50 countries, as it is very convenient for booking trips and excursions on the go.
