In the prior year, e-commerce during the holiday period rose by 8.7%.

Adobe anticipates the peak shopping day this year will be Cyber Monday—the Monday following Thanksgiving (November 27). It predicts online sales on that day (December 1) will grow 6.3% to $14.2 billion.

A portion of holiday spending will take place earlier during Amazon's October Prime Big Deal Days on October 7-8 and other retailer promotions, Adobe states. Revenue across these two days is projected to hit $9 billion (a 6.2% year-over-year increase), the firm forecasts.

Mobile transactions will make up 56.1% of total online expenditure over the holidays, with spending via buy-now-pay-later services expected to grow by $2 billion, according to Adobe's estimates.
