Kim Yo-jong, a chief official of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea and sister of the North Korean leader, has charged the United States with engaging in political provocation after an FBI report claimed Pyongyang’s role in a significant cyberattack on the cryptocurrency exchange Binance.

“Regarding this significant event, the U.S. has once more engaged in its usual provocation by associating it with us,” Kim Yo-jong said, as per a report from the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

Kim Yo-jong rejected the FBI’s assertions, which attempt to depict the DPRK as a “cybercrime state”, calling them “groundless nonsense.”

“The U.S. is misleading the global community by implying that we are accountable for cyber-fraud happening worldwide; this is evidently a serious political provocation against us,” the sister of the North Korean leader pointed out.

The FBI earlier indicated that a hacker collective associated with the DPRK, referred to as “TraderTraitor,” was behind a significant cyber assault on the Binance cryptocurrency exchange, leading to the loss of more than $6 billion in cryptocurrency.
