These investments are providing substantial advantages for various Asian nations that supply equipment—like Thailand, she observed.

Georgieva states that the surge in AI investments has served as a “demand shock” and an “investment shock,” potentially increasing growth in developed Asian economies by 0.5–1 percentage point and in developing economies of the region by 0.2–0.8 percentage points.

Georgieva noted, “It is exactly this transition to a higher level that enables the global economy to expand at approximately 3%, in spite of the negative impact from the energy supply disruptions.”
