Analysts at the World Economic Forum (WEF) believe that the impact of the coronavirus pandemic and the emergence of new strains could literally bring about a collapse in the global economy.

Over than 12 000 respondents from 124 countries participated in the survey. As a result, they highlighted problems to be expected in the short term. All of them are related to the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic.

"Vaccination and accelerated digitalisation have already put some countries on the path to a rapid post-crisis recovery, while others are still dealing with the worst consequences," the experts say. They recall that half of the world's population is still unvaccinated against the virus.

Experts also agree that the economic recovery on the planet will be uneven. Already now the countries are divided into winners and losers. This will only add to the problems of the future, including rising energy costs, a new round of logistical crisis and a spike in inflation.

The WEF estimates that these threats are very real for 97 countries. Of these, 16 are G20 economies.

The consequence of this economic collapse could be a further increase in the number of refugees.
